Beware The Snare: Which Shall Come Upon All The World Part III
n the present series, we’ve tied the Snare which Christ told us would occur, to the false prophets, who would come in the LORD’s name, saying “the time draweth near” (Luke 21:8). Jesus said that these false teachers will present themselves as Christians (they “shall come in my name” – Matthew 24:5), and they will say that He is indeed the LORD (Many will say “I am Christ” – Mark 13:6), indicating this dreaded “Snare” will originate from within the ranks of Christianity.
In Luke’s Gospel, which mentions the Snare, the LORD prefaced His warning about this universal trap which “shall come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth,” with a cautionary statement that the believers should be very careful as the Snare could take them by surprise:
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares” (Luke 21:34).
Here is a fascinating connection to the Snare, for the Holy Spirit has embedded subtle clues pointing us to the true nature of this threat. Indeed, JESUS clearly connects an “overcharging” of the heart, with the conditions that will leave the believer vulnerable to the Snare. This is only one of three phenomena He mentions, which can cause individuals to be “unaware” that the prophesied trap has crept up on them.
The other two causes – drunkenness and an inordinate focus on the things of this world (the “cares of this life” in the text) -- are relatively obvious. After all, if you spend every waking moment in pursuit of career goals, carnal pleasure, sports fanaticism, or an obsession with who knows what, you’re hardly watching out for a Spiritual Snare. Likewise, intoxication is not the best course of action when you’re supposed to be alert, standing guard, and watching for an approaching enemy.
This leaves us with the “surfeiting” – an archaic term which is said to have the potential to “overcharge” our hearts. As many of my readers have already learned, the Holy Spirit has a supernatural way of communication, and when we find terms that are unusual, or even obscured by the Scriptures themselves (II Peter 2:9), experience teaches the discerning believer there is more going on than a casual read can apprehend.
Further, both terms are unique to the entire New Testament, as both “surfeiting” and “overcharged” only occur in this one verse, so here is where we’ll find more on the Snare.
“Overcharged” is baruno in the Greek Textus Receptus manuscripts, and the various lexicons indicate it means to be burdened, or to overdo something. The idea the word imparts is to be weighed down, or taken captive by something. Those who have followed our previous work in prophetic metaphor know thatcaptivity (or being in bondage to something), is related to the Spirit of Hell that is found in religion, and more particularly, the False Prophet of Revelation 13. For more on the twin Spirits of Antichrist (aka Death) and the False Prophet (the aforementioned Spirit of Hell), see To Kill Or Take Captive at ChristianMediaResearch.com.
The word “surfeiting” is even more interesting. Typically, it is thought to be associated with excess, as in gluttony, or over imbibing in just about anything. The Greek word is kraipale, and it is found in Strong’s Greek Concordance as word #2897, where the famed concordance tells us it’s related to a seizure. Strong’s says it implies debauchery, but the real surprise is the fact the Greek word kraipale is derived from the root word harpadzo.
Those who have seriously studied prophecy know harpadzo is the Greek word from which we derive the English term Rapture!
Incredibly, here we have Jesus, warning us about a massive deception, described as a huge trap or Snare, which will have an association with religion, and this Snare will take people’s hearts captive through an overemphasis on something related to the Greek word for Rapture!
Further, this warning occurs in conjunction with Christ’s parable of the Fig Tree, which is easily discerned to be a veiled reference to Israel. Although those already deeply ensnared in the Rapture Cult will likely suggest this is a warning to be ready for the so called Rapture (in order to avoid being “left behind”), the entire passage is related to false prophets, representing themselves as proficient in Christian prophecy, who say “the time draweth near” (Luke 21:8). Thus, the bottom line is, it is undeniable the LORD plainly states such teachers are false prophets, and we are flatly told not to follow their pernicious doctrine.
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ…and they shall say to you, See here; or see there: go not after them….wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold he is in the desert; go not forth: Behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not” (II Corinthians 11:13).
The fact that the New Testament directly addresses those who preach a secret coming of Christ, as in the above verse, speaks volumes, for the LORD clearly taught that His return will be global, all the tribes of the earth shall mourn when it occurs, and every eye shall see Him. The association of the Snare as part of the Fig Tree parable, as exegeted in Part I of Beware The Snare, directly links the widely disseminated idea of the Cult that kidnapped Christianity that God is about to “rapture” the so called “Church,” with the claim “the time draweth near,”because the Jews are now back in the Middle East, and they are in possession of Jerusalem.
At the risk of redundancy, I’ll repeat the prior thought. In our time, heaps of teachers (II Timothy 4:3) continue to assert that because the Jewish people are re-gathered into their ancient homeland, “the time draweth near” (Luke 21:8). Such continually echo the Pharisee’s claim that the Jews are the seed of Abraham – the chosen people – and our fate as believers is dependent on how we treat them. This was a lie when the Pharisees made the claim, and it’s the same lie being propagated in our time:
“They answered and said unto him, [we are chosen because] Abraham is our father…we have one Father, even God. Jesus saith unto them, if God were your Father, ye would love me…Ye are of your father the devil….” (John 8:39, 41, 42, 44).
The truth is, most “believers” in this evil and adulterous generation were “born again” into another gospel (Galatians 1:6) in the first place, and the prophesiedSnare has already snapped shut on the entire world. The Rapture Cult is the spiritual seed that was planted, and it was a tare which has flowered in our time as the Jewish Supremacism we see everywhere. As the tentacles of the Antichrist religion which it delivered have now encircled the entire globe, what passes for Christianity today is but a dim counterfeit of the original.
It is a rare person professing Christ that understands the genuine Gospel of Jesus Christ has already redeemed Israel, and the flesh and blood people who are represented as Jewish and “chosen,” are not Jews at all, but a flesh and blood people who are inhabited by the Spirit of Antichrist (Revelation 3:9).
The only Israel that is redeemed is a Spiritual body (I Peter 2:5), and themingling of the genuine Gospel with Old Covenant precepts, wherein a flesh and blood family (I Corinthians 15:50) was chosen by the LORD to inherit the kingdom, is the Snare which has already “come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth” (Luke 21:35).
