Double Double, Toil And Trouble Part VI
he last installment of the Double Double series showed the Spiritual components seen in Revelation 13, with a particular emphasis on the Multitude and the Image of the Beast. Utilizing prophetic metaphor, we’ve demonstrated how the Gospels reveal the Jewish Sanhedrin functioned as the False Prophet, as they engineered a scheme to excite the Multitude, so the people would demand that Pilate, in the role of Antichrist, would execute Jesus.
This key triad consisted of Rome as the Antichrist Beast, which equivocates with Death, whereas Christ is Life personified. Simultaneously, Judaea functioned as the religious middle ground identified with Hell:
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold [double] more the child of Hell than yourselves” (Matthew 23:15).
We note how everything is in pairs, or doubled in the above citation. There are two groups of hypocrites, pictured as the scribes and the Pharisees. They traverse two topographies, sea and land, seeking converts. And their unfortunate follower becomes twice the child of Hell.
We again note how these heavenly genetics manifest identifiable traits, such as the fact the Spirit of Hell, found in the False Prophet, causes torment, as opposed to Death:
“…and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented…” (Revelation 9:3,5).
We remind the reader that Judaea, as an occupied province of the Roman Empire, was forbidden to inflict the death penalty without sanction from Rome. Further, although the commandments of God given by Moses allowed for the death penalty, their own Talmudic traditions had long since departed from the laws of Moses:
“The Jews therefore said unto [Pilate], It is not lawful for us to put any man to death” (John 18:31).
Conversely, the adjacent Spiritual power in Rome distributed death on a wholesale basis:
“…their tails were like serpents, and had heads…and out of their mouths issued fire, and smoke and brimstone…to slay the third part of men” (Revelation 9:19,17,15).
The evil spirits described herein are ever active, and the two factions, the “scorpion” Spirit which desires to kill but cannot, and the “serpent” spirit,” which decides whether or not to inflict death, are the “two parts” which God will cut off:
“…in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein” (Zechariah 13:8).
The third is the righteous component which is chosen by the LORD to be purified and preserved:
“And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them…” (Zechariah 13:9).
This “third part” is the Seed of God, or LIFE, and Jesus Christ personifies the role, in sharp juxtaposition to Rome, who wielded the political power of crucifixion and DEATH, influenced by the Judaean religion of HELL:
“…ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem. Because ye have said, we have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement” (Isaiah 28:14,15).
As the council known as the Sanhedrin met to devise a plan to destroy JESUS, they were forbidden to simply kill Him, so they engineered a conspiracy to “prove” Him guilty of committing blasphemy, which was punishable by death:
“And the Pharisees went forth, and straitway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him” (Mark 3:6).
The two parts of the Herodians and the Pharisees, concocted a plot to kill the third part, because the whole of the Multitude was following the third part, the Seed of God -- and in the very next verse, we see the sum total of the three parts, the Multitude:
“But JESUS withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea, and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him” (Mark 3:7,8).
Once again, the Twice-Speak phenomenon is seen, with the mention of the “great multitude” doubled:
“For God speaketh once, yea twice. Yet man perceiveth it not” (Job 33:14).
The plan designed by the priests in the council was carefully constructed to cause the multitude to condemn Jesus to death:
“And the LORD said unto me, a conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem” (Jeremiah 11:9).
We have now mentioned all the elements found in Revelation’s astonishing chapter concerning the two beasts, commonly known as the Antichrist and the False Prophet. The Antichrist beast, as the opposite of Christ, who is LIFE, must be seen as DEATH:
“and I saw one of his heads as though it were wounded to death…” (Revelation 13:3).
The False Prophet is the second of two, who causesthe Multitude to manifest his plan, which is designed to emulate the first beast [Death], and bring about the death of the Seed of God:
“And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth [the Multitude]…saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast…that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed” (Revelation 13:14,15).
The Multitude are those who “dwell on the earth,” and the “Image,” which is patterned after the Antichrist beast, is materialized based upon the blueprint of the False Prophet – a Spiritual architecture which is constructed by the Multitude.
“And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him to Pilate” (Luke 23:1).
Thus the False Prophet, inhabited by the Scorpion Spirit, projects his version of the Antichrist Beast to the Multitude; and the Multitude, thinking they are doing God’s will, builds the “Image” of the Beast. Since the Image is designed and constructed based upon the characteristics of the Death beast (as opposed to the LIFE in Christ), the Image will also be instilled with the Spirit of Death.
In this fashion, the “Scorpion Spirit” causes a surrogate to come into existence, and the specifications of the Image are followed by theMultitude, as they “make” the Image (Revelation 13:14). As the Multitude embraces the design, and performs the work of constructing the plan, the Scorpion Spirit endows the Image with a form of Spiritual life (Revelation 13:15). But the “life” given to the Image is actually the Spirit of Death.
The prophet Ezekiel eloquently records this, as the LORD addresses the Serpent Spirit found in all false prophets:
“Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying The Lord saith. And the Lord hath not sent them; and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word” (Ezekiel 13:3,6).
When the Spirit in the False Prophet seduces the Multitude with his agenda, he makes the Multitude to “hope that they would confirm the word” by bringing his plan to fruition. Note how the “others” (read the Multitude) come to believe that they will “confirm” that the False Prophet’s program is indeed from God, if they make the “Image.”
Ezekiel even goes on to describe the Image and, in this instance, it is said to be a wall which is built by the Multitude:
“…they have seduced my people…and one built up a wall, and lo, others daubed it with untempered [unrighteous components] mortar” (Ezekiel 13:10).
The Multitude is promised that by following the plan of the False Prophet, they will receive life, but thedesign of the image ensures the image will manifest death:
“Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous [the third part] sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life” (Ezekiel 13:22).
The prophet goes on to voice the Word of the LORD, who declares that He will bring down the Image of the Beast (in Ezekiel’s example, the wall which is made by the people) through His great wrath:
“..it shall fall; there shall be an overflowing shower; and ye, O great hailstones, shall fall…I will even rend it [divide it] with a stormy wind in my fury… …Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered mortar…so that its foundation [its design] will be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst of it” (Ezekiel 13:11, 15, 14).
This promise from God, that He will bring down the construct we’ve associated with the Image of the Beast, was dramatically fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Ironically, the contemporary Jerusalem wailing wall, the ruined remnant of an ancient wall in the city, now serves as a stark reminder that God will ultimately bring down the unholy construction described in Revelation’s amazing passages.
However, when we apply these Spiritual identities to our generation, we will find that although the supernatural entities described in Double Double remain the same, the vessels inhabited by the Spirit of the serpents, the scorpions, and the seed are decidedly different – but that exposition will have to wait for another day.
